JOHN EVANS "Duke" - is a man that loves God, and shares his personal testimony through his songs and videos. We are excited about having him bring his music and personal story of redemption to our label. We hope you will take time to visit John's YouTube channel and check out some of his tunes. John likes to post this with his songs: PS.33:3 SING TO HIM SKILLFULLY AND SHOUT FOR JOY."

SOME BACKGROUND ON JOHN EVANS

As a child, John grew up in a household devoid of faith and suffered numerous childhood trauma at the hands of his earthly father.  By age 8 John had divorced himself from the world and was already travelling down a dark road becoming an alcoholic by the age of 14 and already looking for ways to end his existence.  This resulted in him being briefly institutionalised at age of 19 following a suicide attempt which left him in a coma for several days.

The next 40 years saw John continue on a path of self-destruction as he battled gambling addictions and an aggressive nature that led to 2 failed marriages and a trail of hurt people left in his wake.

Eventually John was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and later with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Throughout all of this the only common thread through Johns' life was music.  Originally a singer John expanded his skill set to include knowledge of the Guitar and, most recently Bass Guitar.

At the age of 55 and following the death of his mother three years previously John reached the lowest point of his life. Having just married his disabled partner of 16 years and having a disabled son to care for, he found himself at the lowest point ever, unable to find any joy in life at all.

Having tried everything the world had to offer in order to find some peace or purpose John entered a church for the first time in his life.

3 months later an encounter with the Holy Spirit brought John the revelation of the Truth that had been missing in his life. In June 2025 John was baptised and shortly after joined the worship team at his Church.  He is alcohol free, gambling free and has found a joy, purpose and peace he never knew existed.

And it is this message of freedom, life and transformation that he is determined to share with the world using the musical gifts God has given him.

Here are their lyrics:
No.1
I am like a lonely nightingale, and you are like a golden cage;
Let me lay my face beneath your feet—tread upon it like a carpet.
My beloved, I wish to speak with you—as one might make a humble plea to a king.
You possess a wondrous countenance; your complexion is like the *gulgaz* flower.
No.2
Without thee what are song and dance to me?
The castagnettes I throw down wearily.
My heart and thoughts are ever filled with thee,
So rhymes and verses leave me, one by one.
How can one bandage serve for gashes twain?
How on two masters wait a single swain?
Would not one gardener tend two groves in vain?
For he must graft the saplings one by one.

Well said our fathers, speaking of such woes,
“I made a garden, others plucked the rose.
Theirs was the sweetness, mine the thorny close.”
In sooth these things befell me one by one!

Without thee what are riches unto me?
What worth could I in silks or cashmeres see?
Arrayed in rags and sackcloth I would be,
Wandering around the convents, one by one,

To meet perchance with some one, who might tell,
My fair one, how to free me from thy spell;
For Sayat Nova’s torments far excel
The Seven Wise Men’s complaints told one by one!

No.3
Where do you come from, stranger nightingale? Do not cry, it is I who should weep. You look for the rose and I look for the Grace.Do not cry, it is I who should weep.

No.4
You are wise from the very start, do not compare your mind to a fool’s,
Do not equate us with what is merely seen in a passing dream.
I am already burnt to ashes from the beginning, do not turn me into a fresh kebab,
If you are weary of me, I know, just do not make others the excuse.
